About Us

Hello and welcome to Powerhouse R/C Performance. My name is Mark and I would like to take a few minutes of your time to tell you how Powerhouse became what it is today. I have been building and racing radio control cars for 25 years. Since I was 7 years old, I have been fascinated with the world of R/C.

My real journey began in 1994 when I joined the United States Army. I served my country for 10 years and during those years I spent part of the time as a crew chief on attack helicopters. I learned very extensively how a turbine engine compresses fuel and air to create shaft horsepower. I have adopted these simple principles into building the quickest reacting, fastest power spooling engines on the market.

In the fall of 1999, I had the privilege of being selected to work for a company based in Grand Island, New York, that designed and hand built race engines for snowmobiles and personal watercraft for Factory Polaris. After years of research and development, I have acquired extensive knowledge on how 2 stroke engines live and breathe. I have learned the importance of port timing (intake and exhaust), effective pressure (power stroke), blowdown time, fill time, case fill, and exhaust scavaging and apply these principles to give you the most performance possible from your engine.

I have taken the time to explain the basics of how an engine operates to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have about your particular engine and why it does or doesn’t do what it was designed to do and how we can make it work better to suit your nitro needs.

So please, take a few more minutes and read the basics of a 2 stroke operation.
